Un Dia delle Due

After meeting up with Maria and friends the night before for a fun-filled dinner, she decided to crash at my place the next night as I had such a huge room. She came early in the morning for a breakfast with the Frenchies (every one at the b&b was French, and so was morning breakfast conversation). After toast with jam, and yogurt with fruit, the two of us set out to see Rome.

Minus a downpour, the day was splendid. We saw the Forum, the Panthenon, the Coliseum, and one other ancient structure. We had a vino-filled lunch in Travestere, and then wandered over to the Vatican to take in the sites there. We stopped at Harry’s for a bellini and went to the Trevi Fountain.

I was amazed we could pack so much into a day, but we did! We found an amazing spot for dinner – il Chianti – which was definitely myfavorite dinner in Italy. It was a scrumptious meal, and we topped it off with gelato for desert with a wander to the Spanish Steps and tossing two coins into the Trevi fountain -- one so that we would return to Rome, and the other so that a wish would come true.

On the way home, our view could have been better. As we attempted a short cut in which we ended up walking into some guy peeing in public. I screamed like a woman being chased by a vampire, which terrified him causing him to bang his head on the truck he was in, and Maria started yelling, “He showed us his man parts!” Which made me laugh too hard to walk straight. We giggled all the way home, and tried to be quiet as we entered the house. We simply had had the best day -- good times, good food and new faces to refer to as friends.

Leave it to Italy to redeem herself on my last night!
